Invitation for an international conference on the future of intercultural education and citizenship in Euro-Med region.

Dear Partners,

It is our pleasure to invite You to participate in an International Conference “The challenge of intercultural education -Yesterday, today and tomorrow…” in Tallinn, Estonia, on 9th June 2017 held under the project EUROMED Education Without Borders, organised in cooperation between partners from European and Arab countries and co-financed by Anna Lindh Foundation, National Foundation of Civil Society, Estonian Ministry of Culture, Tallink Grupp and others.

Conference is organised in order to discuss on high level event which connects a unique regional network of practitioners, policy-makers, media and international donors, united to create together real and lasting change in the face of the region’s most pressing problems. Also its place officially launch the project results (the toolkit and the web resource) and publicize the results as widely as possible.

Project “Euromed: Education withouth borders” objective is to encourage creative solutions and advance intercultural education among young people of the Euro-Mediterranean region to increase communication and build trust to motivate young people cross borders to take charge of the development of the Euro-Mediterranean region and recognize the benefits of working together across cultural boundaries as we share common goals and a common future.

The conference includes:
– Three key note speeches by two international experts in the field of intercultural education and dialogue as well as citizenship education in intercultural dialogue, The aim is to introduce the themes to all participants (as the conference is open to all, not just previous project participants) and further elaborate on the continued relevance of these themes.
– Two Euro-Mediterranean dialogue sessions, one on intercultural education and dialogue and the other on citizenship and human rights. They are panel discussion including representatives of many different cultural backgrounds that highlights the usefulness of creating a comparative perspective, being open to ideas from other cultures and finding common goals.
– Practical working groups. The project produces two main outcomes EUROMED: Education Without Borders toolkit and web-resource, the working groups are divided between specific topics, but are ultimately focused on how to move forward from this point. How to we implement these results in practice and what different contexts of application there might be.

Participants: 120 participants (up to 30 international participants from EUROMED region and 90 from Estonia) including High guests from International institutions, Ministries, Embassies, Partners, Students,young people,  interested organisations and  Local NGOs leaders, Networks and business representatives).
Conference official languages: Estonian, English and Arabic

Participation fee: All young participants (age 15-26 years) can attend the conference for free.  For everyone else the participation fee is 20 EUR to be paid upon registration.
